AVIATION FIXED BASE OF OPERATIONS
( TETERBORO, NEW JERSEY )
Across the river from the impressive
skyline of Manhattan stands a new 30,000 square foot, five-story
fixed base of operations building with an 80 foot long enclosed,
elevated pedestrian bridge connecting the new facility to an existing
building on an adjacent property.
The building structure and the bridge
structure are steel framed with cast-in-place concrete floor slabs
on steel form deck supported on open web steel joists and steel
beams. Three steel pipe braced frames were used for lateral stability.
Poor soil conditions required the
entire project to be founded on concrete filled steel pipe piles.
Virtually every floor of the building
is designated for a different type of use. The first floor is the
terminal for arriving and departing flights and includes a large
two-story waiting area. The second floor houses sleeping quarters
for the pilots as well as an exercise room and remote office stations
for passenger use. The third and fourth floors are general lease
space and the fifth floor contains the executive offices of Jet
Aviation. Due to the mixed nature of the building, extensive floor
vibration analysis was performed to minimize the perceptible effects
of floor vibrations. |
